It’s starting to feel a lot like there’s an over-saturation of comics, and not in a good way. At some point in time, if you’re a writer, you’ve probably thought to yourself… you know what — I can write a comic. Then there comes the, oh shit, I need an artist. Yup, you sure fucking do.
This new insurgence of comics is probably due to the lack of imagination in the entertainment industry, movies specifically. When you want to make a “big budget,” “high grossing” movie and you have absolutely no imagination, people are going to comics. I’d challenge someone to make a movie based off a mid-late ’90s comic. Do it. I dare you.
With the massive number of comics coming out each week, I wanted to point out a few of the really good artists that might be getting lost due to the over-saturation. These are the artists that tell the story and keep the readers’ attention. You may or may not have heard about them, but let me know who your favorite artist is this year.
OH! and just so you don’t bitch about my picks, I’m going specifically off of artists in 2017.
The best comment that meets the following requirements, I’ll buy you a volume of your book. Winner will be chosen at the end of the month.
