It’s getting close to a new TV season, and I’m getting excited. The problem is there are a few shows coming to FOX, and well… they don’t have a very good track record for keeping shows. So many shows from my younger years were either aired out of order like Wonderfalls and Firefly, or they just didn’t give them a chance.
Here is some information that should help you understand why these were canceled.
One thing that FOX didn’t know how to account for was TiVo. Basically people were recording the shows and watching later. Sure that might be one of the reasons, but the main reason is that FOX just freaks out. I have a slogan for FOX.
“FOX, the more you cancel”
Plot: Set in Niagara Falls, the main character, aimless Brown graduate Jaye Tyler (Caroline Dhavernas), works in a tacky Niagara Falls gift shop where the various ceramic animals on display give her advice and instructions on how to help “people in need.” Very cute show!
Plot: Jim Profit is obsessed with the Gracen family and spends his time working his way up the ladder at the Gracen & Gracen firm by sabotaging his co-workers.
Plot: The series follows the adventures of a late-20th-century New York City pizza delivery boy, Philip J. Fry, who, after being unwittingly cryogenically frozen for one thousand years, finds employment at Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company in the retro-futuristic 31st century. The series was envisioned by Groening in the mid-1990s while working on The Simpsons; he later brought David X. Cohen aboard to develop storylines and characters to pitch the show to Fox.
Plot: Various drivers are recruited or forced into participating in a secret cross-country road race for a $32M prize. Alex Tully, played by Nathan Fillion, is forced into competing by the promise that the masterminds behind the race will eventually provide him information about his missing wife. Naturally, all kinds of mayhem ensues
Plot: Cowboys in Space.
