We have a great game here from the makers of Steel Crate Games, the Indie Developers first on Steam. In Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, one player is trapped in a virtual room with a ticking time bomb they must defuse. The other players are the “Experts” who must give the instructions to defuse the bomb by deciphering the information found in the bomb defusal manual (found at bombmanual.com). But there’s a catch: the experts can’t see the bomb, so everyone will need to talk it out – fast!
Rounds are fast-paced (usually about 5 Minutes), tense, occasionally silly, and almost always loud. Everybody has a role to play whether they are defusing the bomb or not.
Puzzle solving and communication skills – and maybe a few friendships – will be put to the test as players race to defuse bombs while communicating quickly, clearly, and effectively.
I had an amazing experience with his game at a party not too long ago. Somebody said, “Want to diffuse a bomb?” I was like, “what are you talking about?” After about 2 to 3 minutes of negotiating, I was presented with a 3-ring binder and 20+ pages of instructions on how to defuse a bomb. Then, about five minutes after becoming familiar with what was inside, I felt like I was ready to handle whatever came my way. The person with the bomb just started to call out modules they saw in front of them such as I have wires they run left to right. Than others who are more familiar with the game would call out things like “are there any red wires?” or “is the fourth wire yellow?” After the first tutorial round with about two or three modules I felt like I was ready for something a little bit more challenging. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a very entertaining party game that can be played with two or more players. It can even be played by other means such as text messaging, phone calls, or Skyping. The other person just has to listen for what type of bomb you’re dealing with in tell you how to defuse it. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is definitely a buy when it comes to Steam games, and highly recommended if you like to have a good time and entertain a large group of people with 3-ring binders.
