Why, you ask?

Because the actor/recording artist/all-around talented guy has just been cast as the young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars off-shoot helmed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Glover, who’s best known for his roles on TV series Atlanta and Community, as well as his Grammy-nominated work as Childish Gambino, will join Alden Ehrenreich in the as-yet-unnamed standalone film, which centers on the life of Han Solo (and his fellow underworld members) prior to the events of A New Hope.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Lord and Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

What are your thoughts on the casting news? And, more importantly, how do you feel Donald Glover will look in the Calrissian cape?

The Han Solo movie is set for release in 2018.
