And it reintroduces audiences to the biggest bad in the universe
The first official full length trailer for Alien: Covenant dropped yesterday, and not only does it answer some of our questions following the end of Prometheus (mainly, where did Elizabeth Shaw and David go?), but it gives us the sense that it will actually feel like an Alien movie.
Gone is the convoluted backstory of the Engineers and Pilots; in its place are updated face huggers and the Xenomorph, arguably one of the most frightening creatures in cinematic history.
Alien: Covenant promises to return to its franchise’s roots, with a tone that feels much more akin to a haunted house film. And judging from what we’re seeing so far, that promise is going to be kept.
Alien: Covenant hits theaters May 19, 2017.
