7 of the Most Badass Daenerys Moments From Game of Thrones

With the seventh and near final season of Game of Thrones coming to a close this Sunday, it’s important to look forward — forward to the inevitable and undeniable future rule of Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.

Until that day happens, however, let’s take a few minutes to look back and to remember all of the moments that brought us to where we are now. Because, let’s be real here: Daenerys is a goddam badass. And she and her dragons have done some seriously badass shit in the last seven years.

So to commemorate seven years of Daenerys badassery, we’ve rounded up the seven most badass Daenerys moments (to date).

WHEN SHE SET THE KHALS ON FIRE

“Book of the Stranger” — season 6 episode 4

After being taken in by the dosh khaleen, Daenerys’ fate is set to be decided by the other khals during the khalar vezhven. Rather than stand aside to let a bunch of men choose what to do with her, Daenerys instead condemns their childish behavior, locks them in their temple, and sets it ablaze. When she emerges, unharmed, the remaining Dothraki bow at her feet, proving once and for all that she is the Khalessi of the Great Grass Sea.

WHEN SHE BARBECUED THE WARLOCK

“Valar Morghulis” — season 2 episode 10

Once in Quarth, Daenerys is taken prisoner — along with her dragons — by the warlock Pyat Pree, in order to restore his own magic. Being that she’s kind of over the whole, being sold into slavery thing, Daenerys goes the opposite route and orders her baby dragons to torch the warlock, which they do, to much audience cheering.

WHEN SHE ESCAPED DAZNAK’S PIT

“The Dance of Dragons” — season 5 episode 9

When her entourage is attacked by the Sons of the Harpy during a pit battle, Daenerys nearly surrenders herself to inevitable death, only to be spared last minute by the ferocious Drogon. He not only takes out a number of her attackers with fire, but he allows her to climb up in order to escape, thereby making her the first Targaryen dragon rider in over a century.

WHEN SHE ATE THE STALLION’S HEART

“A Golden Crown” — season 1 episode 6

Once Daenerys learns she’s carrying Khal Drogo’s son, she must participate in the Dothraki heart-eating ceremony, which is exactly as gross as it sounds. And although it takes a few tries to keep the thing down, she is ultimately triumphant, unblinkingly downing the entire heart for her audience like a damn champ.

WHEN SHE BROKE THE CHAINS

“And Now His Watch Is Ended” — season 3 episode 4

After striking a deal with a slave master in Astapor to gain control of the Unsullied army, Daenerys double-crosses him, revealing she’s had the upper hand during the entire negotiation, and orders the Unsullied to kill the other slave masters and to break the chains off any slave they see. As if that weren’t enough badassery, she then calmly orders Drogon to fry the slave master where he stands, thereby solidifying the whole, “Breaker of Chains” part of her lengthy title.

WHEN SHE BECAME THE UNBURNT

“Fire and Blood” season 1 episode 10

Since it wasn’t bad enough to have to mercy kill her own husband, Daenerys then takes the added suicidal step of following him into his funeral pyre. Lucky for us, she emerges at dawn, unharmed, and having returned dragons into the world of Westeros. It’s our first real glimpse of Daenerys’ future power, and the most memorable moment which marks her right to the crown. The true heir to the Seven Kingdoms, indeed.

WHEN SHE DEMOLISHED JAIME’S ARMY

“The Spoils of War” season 7 episode 4

Just when things were starting to look pretty bleak for Daenerys and her armies, we get what could go down as the most epic dragon scene ever captured onscreen. Riding in like the absolute bad bitch she is, and mowing down thousands of men with dragon fire, the audience is finally able to see exactly what those dragons of hers can do. And Lord of Light knows we’re on her side, 100%.
